Revolution Mill Greensboro Reception: Rachel and Kegan

Rachel and Kegan were married on July 20, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC. Their celebration continued with a reception in The Colonnade at Revolution Mill. The couple has been together since middle school (keep an eye out for the photos below of some adorable scrapbook style gifts Rachel has made and gifted Kegan over the years) and are truly an amazing, easy going couple! We’re so thankful they chose our venue to celebrate their love with family and friends.

The Venue

Rachel and Kegan chose a cocktail style reception because their main goal was for their guests to mingle and have lots of fun. They hired an amazing band and handed out festive light up accessories for the dance floor which added to the party vibe. We provided interactive food stations, multiple bars and a late night snack so food and drinks flowed throughout the night.

What drew the couple to the Colonnade?

“The location is wonderful. We just loved the feel of the space with the exposed brick and wood beams. It was also so convenient to have another bar around the corner that us and our guests walked to after the reception was over!”
- Rachel and Kegan, Bride and Groom

The Vendors

“We are both from Greensboro and wanted to have our reception at a place that felt new to us instead of a place where we grew up going to events. Revolution Mill absolutely blew us away. Jaime was so calm throughout the planning process and answered all of our questions and concerns quickly and with ease. The night flowed so well, and she, along with my incredible wedding coordinator Mimi McGinn, made sure everything was thought of.

My husband and I got to eat quietly by ourselves before ever coming out for our first dance. We got to try all of the wonderful food that was being served and then got to mingle with our guests immediately upon the start of the event. This was a bigger gift than I imagined, as I am not sure we would have found the time to eat otherwise. Revolution Mill also kindly packaged up all of the leftover food and sent it back with us which was a wonderful late night treat for our friends.

Our band, Right to Party, was also INCREDIBLE. They played for over 2 and a half hours straight which kept the party going until the very end. They also learned how to play our first dance song which we really appreciated!” - Rachel, Bride

“The level of service was absolutely wonderful. There were multiple bartenders at each bar and no one had to stand around in line to get a drink or to get food. I also never had to think twice about when things would come out, and the timing was always perfect.” - Rachel, Bride

Rachel and Kegan took advantage of two of our campus neighbors and went for drinks afterwards at The Bearded Goat. For our couples who choose to utilize everything our campus has to offer, there are quite a few options to take advantage of, such as having your Rehearsal Dinner at a nearby restaurant such as Kau.

“It was truly the most perfect day. I was not stressed about a single thing, and it was more fun than I could have imagined. Having all your favorite people in one place to celebrate is the most humbling experience and we could not be more grateful. The reception was incredible, from the flow of food, to the service, to the band set up, it all went off without a hitch. We walked away from the weekend saying confidently, we wouldn't have changed a thing.” - Rachel and Kegan, Bride and Groom

We are honored to be a part of Rachel and Kegan’s love story! It was amazing to see their vision turn into reality with the fun filled reception they planned for their friends and family. Revolution Mill Events: Nana and Adil's Reception

Nana Ama Quansah and Adil Inusah were married on August 4, 2018 -- a little over a year after their engagement.  After a church ceremony, the couple hosted their reception at The Colonnade.

They describe the entire day as exactly what they wanted – simple, fun, and elegant.

“Our wedding day was fun, epic and magical! it was an amazing weekend full of simplicity, love and happiness. We both don’t like being the center of attention, so, we opted for a very intimate wedding with just close family at our church and a fun reception to celebrate with friends and family. Everyone had a great time. Just like what we wanted it to be and to my surprise, I enjoyed the wedding planning process.”

The Planning Process

“All our vendors did an amazing job and treated our guests with love. Our DJ did a great job entertaining everyone throughout the whole night. Our florist stayed within budget and made great recommendations that made our vision come into reality. Our Emcee fully engaged the crowd and made it more fun. Last but not the least our photographer and videographer made sure no moments went uncaptured.”

Favorite Moment

Nana’s favorite moment was getting to see her new husband dance! They didn’t get a chance to practice their entrance dance but it turned out to be the highlight of the night. It set the mood for the reception.

Nana says, “We started with a slow traditional love song and then we had our friends and family join in with the second song as they threw money on us to show how happy they are for us.”

Décor

While the couple didn’t have a specific theme or color scheme, they knew they were going for a romantic and sophisticated feel. “Elegant” was the word that echoed throughout their planning process.

The wedding party was seated at two long tables which were adorned with a greenery garland and accented with pale blush and white flowers. Ivory linens, gold chiavari chairs and floating gold candles in different size cylindrical vases finished off the look.

The round tables which seated the rest of the guests, featured centerpieces with floating candles, floral wreaths, and mixed greenery.

Food and Drink

The couple’s favorite part of the meal were the mini crab cakes with a mustard seed remoulade that were served during the cocktail hour.

Pepper Moon Catering provided a dinner buffet of tossed garden salad, grilled chicken breast with parmesan cream, marinated grilled flank steak, oven roasted vegetables and smashed potatoes.

Venue

The couple was drawn to The Colonnade because of both the pleasant staff and the architecture. They cited the enormous windows, bricks, and courtyard as influencing factors in their decision, saying that the courtyard makes for some amazing photos!

“Words cannot express how amazing the staff was. Our wedding reception was the first big party we have had as individuals. Jaime was so responsive to emails and phone calls and always ready to give a recommendation when needed. I love that Jaime is detailed oriented!” - Nana, Bride
