Revolution Mill Greensboro Wedding: Rebecca + Michael

Rebecca and Michael met while they were serving in the Peace Corps in Mongolia. It was important to them to have everyone special in their lives together at once on their wedding day. This fun-loving duo was married in November at The Colonnade at Revolution Mill in Greensboro. We enjoyed planning much of the occasion long-distance with lots of Zoom calls and we’re excited to share their amazing day with you!

The Venue

“The venue has SO much character that it doesn't need any extra flare (unless you want that). The natural lighting and variety of scenery the venue has to offer is breathtakingly beautiful.”

Rebecca and her bridesmaids enjoyed a morning of pampering in the Bridal Suite including hair & make-up while relaxing with champagne and gearing up for the walk down the aisle.

The couple did a first look to have a few moments to themselves to connect and unwind before their ceremony, and you can see by Rebecca’s smiling face how much that meant.

“Revolution Mills had everything. Even if it was a recommendation for a vendor in the area, or an extra Zoom call to calm your nerves about the details you are unsure about for your day. I mean Revolution Mills has thought about everything, down to even packing an extra meal for you in your getaway car for when you get back to your hotel!! The support and work of Jaime and her team is absolutely the example of what above and beyond is.”

The Ceremony

Rebecca and Michael had a gorgeous Fall day in November for their outdoor ceremony in our Courtyard at The Colonnade. The location comfortably allowed for their wedding party of 17, including the Bride & Groom.

Reception & Décor

The couple chose a simple and elegant décor theme to create a relaxed atmosphere where they and their guests could get cozy and catch up with each other. The colors were deep wine with hints of blush pink, purple and a good dose of greenery.

Rebecca put her own personal stamp on the event with a few DIY projects.

“I made all the acrylic/plexiglass signs for the wedding. I bought plexiglass from Home Depot in various sizes, printed out the imagery I wanted on the sign, placed that imagery behind the plexi glass, traced it with a paint marker, let it dry, and then painted the back of it with the colors of our wedding. They turned out GREAT and I would definitely do it again. I also found it helpful to find downloadable signs on Etsy for all the table signs and had them printed at a shop on thick paper. It ended up being the exact look I wanted for a LOT cheaper than anticipated!”

Food & Drinks

The guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the lower courtyard while the wedding party took photos with their photographer. Rebecca and Michael opted for passed hors d’oeuvres of:

  • Cheddar Biscuits filled with Virginia ham, granny smith apples and honey mustard

  • Caprese Skewers of alternating grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella balls and fresh basil drizzled with balsamic glaze

  • Marinara Meatball on a Spaghetti Nest garnished with parmesan cheese

Rebecca is dairy free, so the couple wanted to include those options throughout their menu. The dinner buffet included:

  • Apple Harvest Salad with artisan greens, thinly-sliced granny smith apples, dried apricots, pistachio nuts in a roasted cinnamon honey vinaigrette with bleu cheese crumbles on the side

  • Fig-stuffed Statler Chicken Breast finished with a light fig glaze

  • Grilled Salmon topped with lemon caper wine sauce

  • Roasted Root Vegetables including sweet potatoes, beets and parsnips with rosemary

  • Potato Gnocchi served with gorgonzola cream sauce

They also chose to have a fun and different approach to wedding desserts and served a variety of 4” individual pies with to go boxes including:

  • Apple

  • Blackberry

  • Key Lime

  • Pumpkin

Rebecca and Michael made use of the champagne wall display and their guests were provided with champagne upon entering the reception along with a full bar.
